The NEA’s Assault on Truth, Parents, and American Values: A Wake-Up Call for Patriots

On my recent broadcast, I had the privilege of discussing a deeply troubling issue with Alex Newman, a keynote speaker at our upcoming 22nd Annual National Worldview Weekend, set for October 3-4, 2025, in Collierville, Tennessee. The event, limited to just 350 seats, will feature an incredible lineup including Gordon Chang, Sidney Powell, Chris Martinson, Mark Mitchell, Dr. Andy Woods, Hadiyah, and, of course, Alex Newman. Tickets and details are available at worldviewstore.com, where you can also learn about our Thursday night foundation banquet. During our conversation, Alex and I dove into the shocking contents of the National Education Association’s (NEA) 2025 handbook—a document so radical it was recently scrubbed from the internet, though thankfully, copies are circulating widely. Here’s what we uncovered and why it matters.

The NEA’s Erasure of Jews from Holocaust Remembrance

The NEA, the largest teachers’ union in the United States, has taken a disturbing step in its 2025 handbook by promoting a version of Holocaust remembrance that omits any mention of Jews. Instead, the handbook vaguely refers to “victims of the Holocaust from different faiths,” effectively erasing the primary target of one of history’s most horrific genocides. This is not just a historical oversight; it’s a deliberate attempt to rewrite history in a way that aligns with the NEA’s broader ideological agenda.

The handbook also portrays Israel’s founding as a result of “forced violent displacement and dispossession,” a narrative that distorts the complex historical reality and fuels anti-Israel sentiment. This revisionism is part of a larger pattern of the NEA pushing ideologies that are anti-parent, anti-God, anti-Bible, anti-prayer, anti-parental authority, anti-America, pro-UN, pro-open borders, and pro-LGBTQ—positions that are fundamentally at odds with a Christian worldview and the principles of a constitutional republic.

A Radical Agenda Laid Bare

Alex Newman, who has thoroughly reviewed the NEA’s handbook, described it as a document so extreme it could be mistaken for a parody designed to make the NEA look as “out of touch and insane” as possible. The handbook promotes radical gender ideology, insisting that all children, starting in the earliest grades, need affirmation of their gender identity and sexual orientation with no opt-outs for parents. It advocates for boys and men accessing girls’ bathrooms, calls for more “equity,” “anti-racism,” and “social justice,” and explicitly seeks to limit parental oversight of school curricula.

The NEA’s hostility toward parents is unmistakable. The handbook demands restrictions on legislation that enhances parental rights and pushes for regulations to crush alternatives to public schools, particularly homeschooling. It even calls for homeschool parents to be licensed teachers, a move designed to make homeschooling nearly impossible. Additionally, the NEA champions unrestricted abortion, asserting a “fundamental right” to terminate a pregnancy at any stage, and demands taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants. Climate change ideology is also woven throughout the document, despite the NEA’s failure to address the fact that less than one in three students in public schools is proficient in core subjects.

As Alex pointed out, the NEA’s agenda is not new. Since the 1930s, the organization has promoted globalism, Marxism, and United Nations initiatives. In my 1995 book, *Reclaiming a Nation at Risk*, I cited a 1938 *New York Herald Tribune* article reporting on an NEA convention where Dr. Goodwin Watson, a Columbia University professor, urged teachers to indoctrinate children to overthrow “conservative reactionaries” and praised Soviet Russia as a “notable international achievement.” A 1940 California Senate committee further revealed that foundations like the Rockefeller Foundation were funding textbooks promoting collectivism and socialism over individuality. This is a long-standing, well-documented agenda.

Why the NEA Pulled the Handbook

So why did the NEA scrub this handbook from the internet? Alex believes it’s because they’re panicking. Parents are waking up, thanks to groups like Moms for Liberty and Moms for America, and the media landscape has shifted. Millions of parents are now paying attention, and many are fleeing the public school system for alternatives like homeschooling. Alex noted that Classical Conversations, a homeschooling organization he works with, now serves over 135,000 students—larger than most school districts. The NEA sees this exodus and the growing public backlash against their extremism, and they’re trying to hide their true beliefs. But it’s too late—the handbook is out, and it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The Battle for Parental Authority and Religious Freedom

The NEA’s attack on parental authority is an attack on religious freedom and the very foundation of a free society. Their worldview treats parents as the enemy and children as property of the state—a hallmark of communist ideology. Alex emphasized that God entrusts children to parents, not the state, and scriptures make it clear that parents are responsible for their children’s education and upbringing. The NEA’s push to require homeschool parents to be licensed teachers is a direct assault on this God-given responsibility.

This issue transcends homeschooling. Even if you don’t homeschool, defending the right to do so is about defending parental authority, religious freedom, and the principles of a free society. The NEA’s vision aligns with UNESCO’s, which views parents as “stakeholders” and “vested interests” to be overcome by the state. This is the same ideology pushed by figures like Elizabeth Bartolet of Harvard Law School’s Child Advocacy Project, who argues that parents are a threat to children, and James Dwyer, who claims parental rights exist only at the state’s discretion. These are the ideas of totalitarians who would fit right in with the likes of Stalin or Mao.

A Nation at a Crossroads

We are at a critical juncture. As I’ve said repeatedly, the constant focus on the federal government shows we’re no longer living under a constitutional system. If the Constitution were followed, the federal government would have minimal impact on our daily lives, with power concentrated at the state and local levels. Instead, we face an overbearing, tyrannical government that threatens fundamental liberties like family and parental rights.

William Penn’s words ring true: “If we will not be governed by God, we will be governed by tyrants.” Americans have cast off God’s moral restraints, and the result is a government that openly wages war on parents and promotes a totalitarian worldview. Alex and I agree that if we don’t restore a constitutional republic by the end of President Trump’s second term, we may reach a point of no return. Political solutions alone won’t suffice—this is a spiritual battle that requires repentance and a return to biblical principles.

If restoration fails, the least bad option may be civil secession. States like Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri could declare that the federal government has breached the constitutional contract and opt out. The worldview of most people in these states is irreconcilable with the radical ideologies dominating places like California, Oregon, and Washington. Forcing a union with no common ground is unsustainable.
