Texas Million-Dollar Mosque Scandal: Plano Imam Preaches Wife-Beating — Taxpayers Foot the Bill (Video)

Texas Million-Dollar Mosque Scandal: Plano Imam Preaches Wife-Beating — Taxpayers Foot the Bill (Video)

A Plano imam who teaches that husbands may hit their wives and “discipline” them like slaves received one million dollars in taxpayer-funded grants from the City of Plano.

Tonight on RAIR TV, we’re taking you inside the latest shocking scandal out of Plano, Texas — straight into the heart of what is known as the Islamic Association of Collin County, the Plano Masjid.

This isn’t just a local mosque story. This is about what kind of ideology Texas is now willing to reward with your tax dollars.

I’m talking about Imam Arsalan Haque.

Born in Pakistan, Haque is a leading advocate of sharia in the Dallas area. And in his own sermons, he spells out exactly what that looks like for women, for families, and for our communities.

In one sermon at the Plano Masjid, Imam Haque tells husbands they may hit their wives — as long as it’s done in the proper “context” and only, quote, “to bring her back to her senses.”

Think about that.

A religious leader in suburban Texas, standing at the pulpit, calmly explaining the conditions in which a man is allowed to strike his wife — and calling it a form of guidance.

And yet, in 2017 and 2020, the City of Plano appears to have handed over twelve grants totaling one million dollars to benefit this same Islamic Association of Collin County.

So here is the question every Texan should be asking tonight:

Is Texas now rewarding imams who preach that women are inherently inferior and may be beaten into “obedience”?

Because Imam Haque doesn’t stop at “contextual” wife-beating.

In another sermon at a different Dallas–Fort Worth mosque, Haque warns men that they may not beat their wives, quote, “to the extent that they die.”

So let me get this straight, the concern is not whether a husband beats his wife — it’s how far he can go.

Haque even goes so far as to compare Islamic slavery favorably to Western models of slavery. He praises the so-called “rights” afforded to slaves under Islam — while calmly admitting that it is sometimes necessary to “discipline” slaves.

Then he draws the line himself:

Just as it is acceptable to “discipline” a slave, he says, it is a duty to discipline his wife if she “rebels.”

This is not some fringe Muslim. This is a Texas imam, given status, platform, and — thanks to the City of Plano — a share of your tax money.

We have to be crystal clear on one point:

According to the Quran, Hadith, and Islamic law, a woman may indeed have physical harm done to her if the circumstances warrant – including when she is deemed “disobedient.”

This certainly does not mean that all Muslim men beat their wives, only that Islam permits them to do so.

And it gets worse.

The same foundational Islamic texts also record that Muhammad captured women in war and treated them as spoils — as tradable human property. The Quran explicitly permits women taken in battle to be kept as sex slaves. That is not a smear. That is what the texts themselves say and what classical jurisprudence has upheld for centuries.

These are not things any community should be proud of.

So why are we seeing the opposite in Texas?

Why is a mosque whose imam openly justifies hitting wives and normalizes the “disciplining” of slaves being showered with public money and political legitimacy?

Why did Plano sign off on one million dollars in grants tied to this institution?

Where is the so-called “women’s rights” movement in Texas?
Where are the domestic violence advocates?
Where are the city officials who approved these grants?

RAIR Foundation USA will continue exposing what political leaders ignore — and we will hold every official accountable for what comes next.
