The Democrats seem to be having an existential identity crisis between communist Islamists and just plain old bat-crap crazy Marxists. Michigan is a prime example of the latter, where Sam Smeltzer, better known as Elyon Badger, is running for a seat in the House of Representatives.
He is a gay, furry-loving, self-identifying honey badger who celebrated conservative TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk’s and UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s assassinations and believes that America deserved 9/11. That last one got him banned on X, and he now spews his evil, hateful rhetoric on Bluesky and Instagram.

The furry honey badger
Smeltzer is a 36-year-old IT specialist who is all for taxing the rich, government-run healthcare, and fighting for the demented freedom of furries, according to The Washington Free Beacon. He is seeking to represent Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District between political events and attending furry conventions.
The flamboyant Democrat is running against Bridget Brink, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, but she has been raising far more money than he has, and he is lagging behind her. However, due to an October front-page photo shoot in Michigan’s Between the Lines LGBT newspaper that touts his “honey badger energy,” his campaign is beginning to surge.
Smeltzer is just one of many weird, off-the-wall Democrats calling for violence while claiming they hate America as they run for political office.
Cheering violence
From The Washington Free Beacon:
Just after Kirk’s assassination in September, Smeltzer posted a meme on Bluesky reading, “If guns make us so safe, why am I dead?” He added, “How can we defeat evil, if evil is mourned when it’s defeated?”
Smeltzer, on the day of the assassination, posted several other comments in which he appeared to support the murder, including “I for one, celebrate the death of every Nazi” and “Good things can happen.”
He also issued a campaign statement praising the Kirk assassination.
Two days after the assassination of Thompson, he seemed to praise the alleged gunman, Luigi Mangione, writing on Bluesky, “Seeing the public support of the man who took action has actually started to cure my depression.”
In October 2024, Smeltzer posted a screenshot of an email from X support showing that he had been banned from the app for writing, “America deserved 9/11.”

He also seemed to be calling for using the guillotine to execute very wealthy people.
“We need to find their mansions, yachts and jets and they all need to be burned,” he posted Friday in a thread addressing the $1 trillion compensation package Tesla shareholders offered CEO Elon Musk. “Then we can drop the guillotine on them.”

“What’s inappropriate is billionaires existing,” Smeltzer told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an email. “Elon musk lives off of government tax dollars (38 billion to date) and when users on twitter proved Elon could singlehandedly end world hunger, he decided to become the world’s first trillionaire, while his DOGE wreaked havoc on the systems that keep poor Americans alive.”
Smeltzer also said that billionaires “violated the social contract” while charging that they were in “solidarity with one another.” He added that the “proletariat are waking up to that fact.”
Proletariat defined by AI on Google: “The proletariat is a term for the working class, particularly those who do not own the means of production and must sell their labor for wages. This concept is central to Marxist theory, which views the proletariat as being in conflict with the bourgeoisie (the wealthy capitalist class) and having the potential to lead a revolution to create a more egalitarian society. In modern contexts, it often refers to the wage-earning, or industrial working class. “
“Brian Thompson made money by denying people healthcare, Brian Thompson is a DEATH PANELIST because when you are DENIED DEFENDED and DEPOSED you are condemned to death by a billionaire,” Smeltzer railed.
Smeltzer also took aim at ICE agents, in multiple posts on the social media site, vowing to send them to “gulags.”

Weirdness, immorality, violence, and a big serving of communism
Smeltzer asserts that he is running a “healthcare and tax the rich campaign.” He plans to use his elected position to advocate for furries.
“The furry community is the ultimate form of freedom in America, and that’s why conservatives hate it and the queer community so much,” he wrote in an email to The Beacon.
He smeared Brink as an establishment Democrat incapable of “fight[ing] for the working class” and said she “can only trudge along and drag this broken cart through the mud, they can’t fix it.” He also told The Beacon, “The party needs Honey Badger energy.”
Brink seems to be ignoring the leftist whack job. She has refused to address Smeltzer’s candidacy and would not answer the National Republican Congressional Committee when it called on her to condemn his wretched comments on Kirk’s assassination.
Evil dressed as a furry
This guy is something else. He has pictures of himself on social media that show him in a furry suit, proclaiming that he hates the US and loves China.

Currently, the race for the Democratic primary for Michigan’s seventh district is a toss-up. Whoever wins will run against Republican incumbent Tom Barrett.
The Democrats have now gone so far to the Left that someone like Smeltzer seems normal to them. Michigan and the Democrats in general seem to have a problem.
