Dem Mayor Arrested Outside ICE Facility in One State, ‘Hostile’ Mob Swarms Agents in Another

Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Newark, New Jersey mayor, Ras Baraka, was arrested by agents on Friday for trespassing at Delaney Hall ICE detention center that houses alleged killers, MS-13 gangbangers, and accused child rapists, among other criminal offenders. DHS called the incident a “beyond bizarre political stunt.”

“We are trying to get in, and we are going to get in today,” said Baraka to WNJB-TV. “It doesn’t matter who is inside; I think they may have detainees; they shouldn’t be in there. We allowed the courts to negotiate this when there were no detainees and just workers, GEO, and us. ICE doesn’t have a long-term lease with these folks, so GEO is completely responsible and hiding behind ICE right now.”

The GEO Group, which operates the facility, denied the allegations and accused the mayor and others of creating a publicity stunt and basically lying, according to Blaze Media.

Another Whacky Progressive Loses It Over Illegal Immigrants

Baraka is about as far left as they get, and he loves to schmooze with notorious individuals with very shady backgrounds. He is one of the leading Democratic contenders for governor in New Jersey as well.

U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Alina Habba, announced Baraka’s arrest, according to Fox News.

“The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon,” Habba asserted, making clear the definition of FAFO. “He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.”

Baraka sounds like a stone-cold communist. His campaign website blathers that if he is elected as governor, he will work to “deconstruct the state budget and reassemble with equity as our north star; judging every decision as either a step towards equity or a step towards inequity.”

The Company You Keep

If you judge a person by the company they keep, then Baraka’s associations are damning. His buds include accused sexual deviant Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and radical antisemitic preacher Louis Farrakhan.

P. Diddy endorsed Baraka in 2014 when he ran for mayor. The progressive Dem was so proud of that endorsement, he posted about it on Facebook and then in 2015, posted another picture of himself with the former rapper.

As far as Farrakhan goes, Baraka is on video hugging him after a speech where the Nation of Islam leader called white people “demons” and urged his congregation to commit violence against them.

More from Fox News:

The video – taken in 2004 at a Newark church – shows Baraka introducing Farrakhan to the congregation by calling him a major personal inspiration and “the leader of every black person.”

During the speech, which was first reported on by the New York Post, Baraka stood to give Farrakhan a standing ovation two times. The first is after Farrakhan denounces the non-violent protests of the civil rights movement, saying, “We didn’t believe in no non-violence. The cracker hit you on your jaw, you break his neck. That’s the way we think.”

Baraka applauds again after Farrakhan demonizes white people as “the enemy.”

Newark Mayor and Other Radical Leftists Get Busted

A spokesperson for Baraka’s campaign stated that the Dem was indeed taken into custody, commenting that he “was arrested and detained by ICE” and that he was being transported to the Homeland Security Investigations Newark field office.

According to DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, who spoke to Fox News, Baraka was not the only Democrat involved. Reps. Rob Menendez Jr., Bonnie Watson Coleman, and LaMonica McIver, all New Jersey Democrats, also took part in it. They stormed through the facility’s gates, demanding that they be permitted to conduct an “oversight visit.” They were stopped at the first checkpoint.

“This illegal breaking and entering of a detention facility puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and the detainees at risk,” McLaughlin posted on X. “Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility. This is an evolving situation.”

Baraka has been a fixture at protests outside the building throughout the week and has been talking smack about the facility’s opening for months.

Fox News further reported:

Baraka has said that using Delaney Hall for processing people in the country illegally goes against state and local law, leading the city to file a lawsuit in the Essex County Superior Court at the end of March.

In a press conference on Monday, Baraka said that GEO Group, the private company running the prison, is “following the pattern of the president of the United States who believes that he can just do what he wants to do and obscure the laws, national and constitutional laws, and they think they can do the same thing in the state of New Jersey and in Newark.”

Backlash and Wailing Begin

New Jersey Sen. Jon Bramnick, a GOP gubernatorial candidate, remarked to Fox News that “it doesn’t really surprise me because he’s been fighting the opening of Delaney Hall since it opened,” and that the mayor “wasn’t very pleased with ICE taking over Delaney Hall.”

Dems were naturally outraged over justice being doled out to their criminal-loving colleague.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ), who is also a candidate for governor, railed against the detention of Baraka, calling it an “absolute outrage.” He stated that Baraka “needs to be released immediately.”

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop, who is mayor of Jersey City, also had a meltdown and declared, “We’re watching lines get crossed in real time,” and that “this is a dangerous precedent.”

Jack Ciattarelli, another GOP candidate for New Jersey governor, branded the grandstanding correctly, calling Baraka’s actions a “cheap publicity stunt.”

“In Newark, the airport is in the midst of an unprecedented & dangerous meltdown, the public schools are failing students & families, and there is crime in the streets every day. And yet its Mayor and leading Democrat candidate for Governor, [Ras Baraka], is busy shilling for illegal Immigrants at an ICE detention center with a cheap publicity stunt. Shameful,” he posted on X.

Baraka Gets Sprung

Baraka was released from custody shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday after several hours in the clink. No word on whether any charges will be pending for his shameful behavior.

He did, however, whine about “due process” as he asserted, “We know we’re right. What we ask for is correct.”

Violent Mob Descends on ICE Officers

On Thursday, a hostile leftist mob of about 25 people swarmed a Massachusetts ICE arrest, which police are calling a “chaotic incident.”

From Fox News:

Footage captured Thursday in Worcester shows a group of residents chanting “don’t take the mother!” and “no warrant!” after a woman was led into an SUV by uniformed ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents. Before the vehicle can pull away, other women are seen placing their hands on the front hood of an SUV and screaming in protest.

At one point, a CBP agent and a bystander start shoving each other as he tried to move her away from the SUV. The vehicle eventually leaves the area after the Worcester Police Department arrived and declared an unlawful assembly, threatening arrest.

More Wailing and Gnashing of Teeth

Cue the screeching by Worcester Democratic mayor, Joseph Petter, who wrote on X, “I am disturbed to hear about today’s events involving ICE. As someone who prides themselves on leading a welcoming city, I am devastated to hear about the separation of a family, especially with Mother’s Day around the corner.”

“The fear of ICE tearing a family apart is the worst nightmare of so many in our city. I have asked the City Manager for a full report of the incident. We were not notified by ICE about the detainment. Simply put, we cannot have this happen in our community,” he vowed.

The Real Story

According to the Worcester Police Department, they responded to the area of Eureka Street around 11:13 a.m. “for a report of a federal agent who was surrounded by a large group of about twenty-five people.”

“We also received a call from someone saying that ICE officers were on scene and refusing to show a warrant to the crowd. Worcester Police officers responded to preserve the peace and prevent anyone from being injured,” the department claimed.

When officers arrived on the scene, “They observed a chaotic scene with several federal agents from various agencies attempting to take a female into custody.”

“Federal agents had placed this female under arrest and were attempting to leave in a vehicle. The crowd was unruly, and several people were putting their hands on federal agents and Worcester officers in an attempt to keep the vehicle and the arrestee from leaving. Worcester officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and keep everyone safe,” police noted.

“As the vehicle went to pull away, a juvenile female had a newborn baby in her arms and was standing in front of the car with the newborn. Officers told her that she was endangering the child and that she needed to move. Eventually, she complied and gave the newborn to someone else,” police stated. “As the vehicle moved away, she ran after the vehicle and kicked the passenger’s side of it. It appeared that she was going to run in front of the moving vehicle, and officers took her into custody.”

That unhinged woman, named Ashley Spring, 38 (obviously, not a juvenile), of Worcester, is now being charged with Reckless Endangerment of a Child, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. The infant was unharmed.

Spring was busted after she “pushed multiple officers” and “threw an unknown liquid substance on them.”

She has also been charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (unknown liquid), Disorderly Conduct, and Interfering with a Police Officer. The incident is still under investigation, and further charges may still be filed.

According to the Boston Herald, Spring is a school committee candidate.

More from Blaze Media:

Worcester Police Department Lt. Sean Murtha described the crowd as “hostile,” noting that two individuals were arrested “as a result of their behavior.”

Neighbor to Neighbor and LUCE Immigrant Justice Network, immigration advocacy groups, accused ICE of targeting a “local immigrant family, including a grandmother, mother, and their two children, one 16-year-old daughter and one 1-year-old infant,” the Boston Herald reported.

They claimed that ICE detained the family’s father on Wednesday “without presenting a judicial warrant.” ICE agents returned on Thursday to detain the “elderly woman with a warrant,” the groups stated.

“As the situation escalated, the residents, fearing the abduction of yet another immigrant family, responded to the threat of agents attempting the arrest,” the groups said. “Residents formed a circle around the local family, chanting and yelling, furious and horrified about yet another targeted attack on the immigrant community in Worcester, which makes up almost a quarter of the city’s population.”

Another Raging Leftist Screams Foul

City Councilor Etel Haxhiaj did all she could to block the arrests and instigated the creation of a “human circle” around those being taken into custody. She was hysterical as she confronted the Worcester Police.

“You arrested her and threw her on the ground,” Haxhiaj accused an officer. She went on to chastise the police for daring to arrest the woman. She told them that one of the residents could “hold her and contain her.”

The Haxhiaj started screaming, “This is what we talk about!”

“That’s a use of force that’s unnecessary,” she wailed. “No, it’s not emotional! It’s real.”

The councilor went on to accuse the officers of being “disrespectful” and charged that the arrested individual was “banged on the floor.”

“I’m trying to protect my constituents,” Haxhiaj claimed, making an absolute unhinged spectacle of herself.
