PAY ATTENTION, AMERICA! If you think being in a conservative-led country or a so-called ‘neutral state’ will protect your right to speak out against radical ideologies, think again.
Human rights activist and Islam critic Rasmus Paludan, a Danish-Swedish politician known for his relentless stance on free speech, has once again become the target of government censorship. This time, it happened in Italy, a country supposedly led by conservatives who claim to champion Western values.
Islam – A Subject You Dare Not Speak About
The shocking truth revealed by these incidents is that Islam has become a subject so sensitive that even non-Muslim countries impose blasphemy-like restrictions to appease violent reactions. Rather than confront the problem—an imported crisis fueled by mass Islamic immigration – these countries are instead targeting the critics. It’s safer, they think, to ban the critic rather than face the backlash. This massive problem could have been prevented and even deported, as promised by the supposedly conservative Giorgia Meloni government, which has fallen woefully short of its commitments.
Italy: Conservative-Led, But Not Safe for Islam Critics
Days ago, Rasmus Paludan was stopped at Milan Malpensa Airport and denied entry into Italy. According to Paludan, he was informed by the prefect of Varese that his presence in the country could provoke anger from others. As a result, he was banned from entering Italy for five years.
“I can’t leave the airport. The prefect has decided that since other people will be angry if I’m in Italy, it’s best if I’m not allowed into the country for five years,” Paludan told RAIR Foundation.
This decision raises troubling questions about the state of free speech and the willingness of conservative governments to bow to potential threats instead of upholding the right to criticize any ideology. Instead of deporting the violent threats, Italy finds it easier to block the critic, revealing a cowardly capitulation to potential violence rather than an enforcement of democratic principles.
Not the First Time: Previous Bans and Legal Battles
This is not the first time Rasmus Paludan has faced restrictions on his international movements. In 2023, the United Kingdom banned him from entering after he publicly vowed to burn the Quran in Wakefield during Ramadan. Then, State Security Minister Tom Tugendhat stated that Paludan’s presence “would not be conducive to the public good.”
In November last year, Paludan was sentenced to four months in prison by the Malmö District Court in Sweden for inciting hatred against an ethnic group. The court claimed his Quran-burning protests and remarks about Muslims were designed to “defame and offend” rather than contribute to public debate.
Swiss Crackdown: Absurd Restrictions Under the Guise of Harmony
Just when you think it couldn’t get worse, it does. After being expelled from Italy, Paludan traveled to Switzerland. On Sunday, May 18, 2025, in the early morning hours, Swiss police burst into his hotel room in Chalco. Four armed officers from the Cantonese police informed him that he was banned from entering Switzerland between May 17th and 21st. Their reasoning? Paludan was deemed a threat to the ‘harmony’ of the Eurovision Song Contest, even though the event had already ended two hours earlier and took place over 250 kilometers away.
This incident is beyond absurd – a blatant lie designed to make you know it’s a lie. The notion that a peacefully sleeping guest in a hotel room could somehow threaten a song contest that had already ended is downright Kafkaesque. It shows how far authorities are willing to abandon logic and legality just to keep Paludan out without ever mentioning the real reason for barring his entry. Laws are no longer set by the people, the courts, or the legislatures, but by teeming throngs of organized and violent Muslims who repeatedly prove that terrorism works.
According to Paludan, he was sleeping peacefully at his hotel when the police disrupted his stay, searched his belongings, and demanded that he leave before noon, despite the official order saying nothing about a forced departure. Paludan has announced plans to file a complaint with the Federal Court in St. Gallen.
Remigration Conference Targeted
Paludan had intended to attend a conference in Milan called “Remigration,” a gathering of European politicians and activists to discuss the increasingly urgent topic of immigration – the policy of encouraging or facilitating the return of migrants to their countries of origin. The summit was set to feature speeches and discussions on how European nations can address demographic and cultural shifts resulting from mass immigration.
Among the notable speakers were Afonso Gonçalves from Portugal, known for his activism on European identity; Martin Sellner from Austria, a key figure in the Identitarian Movement; Jean-Yves Le Gallou from France, a former MEP advocating for national sovereignty; Eva Vlaardingerbroek from the Netherlands, a conservative commentator and advocate for traditional European values; and Dries Van Langenhove from Belgium, a nationalist politician and vocal critic of EU immigration policies.
Paludan clarified that he was not scheduled to speak at the summit but intended to participate and engage with other activists and political leaders to exchange ideas and perspectives on the remigration agenda.
What Does This Mean for Free Speech?
This escalating crackdown on Rasmus Paludan sends a chilling message to every citizen in the Western world – no one is safe from censorship, not even in conservative-led regions that claim to value freedom. The fact that both Italy and Switzerland, known for their historical commitment to democratic values, would preemptively ban an individual because his views will inflame enemies of those very states should serve as a wake-up call.
It also demonstrates the real-world consequences of mass Islamic immigration: no matter what your laws say, Muslims who adhere to Sharia will prioritize it over the legal system of your country.
Are we now living in a world where authorities preemptively silence critics of Islam, fearing potential backlash from the very groups these critics warn against? Are Western governments so terrified of angering Islamic extremists that they will silence their own citizens rather than confront the ideological threat?
Stand Up for Free Speech Before It’s Too Late
Paludan’s ordeal highlights the urgent need for the West to take a stand. If even conservative governments are willing to ban critics to appease potential offenders, where does that leave the rest of us? It’s time to demand that our leaders defend our rights, not surrender them at the first sign of controversy.
A Direct Challenge to Conservative Leaders
Where are the so-called conservative champions of free speech? Where is Matteo Salvini, the leader who vowed to protect Italian identity and values? Why are conservatives silent when one of their own – an outspoken critic of Islamic extremism – is targeted in such a disgraceful manner? The hypocrisy is staggering, and it must be called out. Conservative leaders must either take a stand or admit that they have surrendered to pressure.
