1 detainee, sniper dead after shooting at ICE facility in Texas

The FBI has confirmed that agents discovered, after a sniper attack on an ICE facility in Dallas Wednesday that left one detainee and the attacker dead, the shell casings used in the attack had been engraved with leftist messaging.

The rounds found near the suspected shooter, who was not identified immediately, “contained messages that are anti-ICE in nature,” explained Joseph Rothrock, FBI special agent in charge in Dallas.

Such messaging is becoming more and more common these days, as leftists have launched multiple mass shooting attacks in recent weeks. The rounds used in the sniper assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk just two weeks ago also were found to be engraved with leftist messaging.

Rothrock confirmed the attack was being investigated as “an act of targeted violence.”

“It is unfortunately just the most recent example we’ve seen of targeted violence,” he explained.

Earlier reports had said two detainees were killed and one injured, that being updated to one dead and two injured.

Rothrock declined to provide details on the victims, confirming just that no members of law enforcement were hurt.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that a motive for wasn’t confirmed.

“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Noem said in a post on X. “Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Vice President JD Vance joined in her sentiments.

“The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop,” he wrote. “I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.”

Authorities said one victim died at the scene and two were hospitalized. The suspected shooter was reported to be dead of a self-inflicted gunshot.
